Susan Y. Ellinger

Ms. Ellinger, a Member of the Firm, practices in the areas of affordable housing, tax credit, municipal law, community development, commercial real estate, transactional law, and low income and historic rehabilitation.

 

Ms. Ellinger's practice focuses on business, corporate and partnership law, and commercial and subsidized finance with an emphasis on creating affordable housing through innovative development and rehabilitation of existing housing. She has represented clients in matters involving nonprofit entities, partnerships, limited liability companies, and housing authorities throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. She has extensive experience in HOME loan regulation, Federal Home Loan Bank financing, municipal bond financing of affordable housing, community development block grants, HOPE VI, and other state and federal financing sources of affordable housing and community development.

 

Prior to law school, Ms. Ellinger administered the largest Section 8 programs in North Carolina and South Carolina and established and administered plans involving Section 8 vouchers programs, Project Self Sufficiency programs, new construction, substantial rehabilitation and moderate rehabilitation programs. She advises housing authorities, non-profits and other developers administering affordable programs on tenant landlord law, lease provisions, and drug and eviction policies.
