Mr. Edlin is a Member of the Firm and has been with the Firm since September 2001. Mr. Edlin focuses his practice on business and construction litigation matters, as well as, community association law. He regularly represents subcontractors and general contractors in lien lawsuits, payment bond claims, construction defect claims and advises construction clients with respect to contracts, change orders and other legal documents in the construction process. Mr. Edlin has represented contractors in state and federal courts and at the appellate level in various types of cases. Additionally, Mr. Edlin represents employers in Wage and Hour Act claims and both condemning authorities and land owners in condemnation actions.
Mr. Edlin advises boards, property managers and members of community associations on the various legal aspects of community association law, including membership and board meetings, voting and quorum requirements, covenant interpretation and enforcement of various use restrictions. Mr. Edlin has spoken at various conventions and continuing legal education seminars on the subject of planned communities in North Carolina and recent developments in statutory and case law that impact planned communities in North Carolina. Mr. Edlin has successfully tried cases in state courts and has litigated cases in federal court as well. He has handled oral arguments before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and has briefed cases before the North Carolina Supreme Court. Mr. Edlin also has handled cases before the North Carolina business court.
