The purpose of the summer associate program is to give law students an opportunity to gain practical experience doing substantive work with clients of the firm. A summer associate can expect to work with several different lawyers in a wide range of practice areas.
The firm hires each summer associate based on the idea that the student may eventually become a full-time associate of the firm. The firm recognizes that its long-term viability depends on the quality of the people attracted through the summer associate experience. The summer program provides both a valuable learning experience and an opportunity for summer associates to assess their suitability with the firm and their colleagues on a more long term basis.
